What every pair has in common ▾
Each is handcrafted by skilled artisans in India from responsibly repurposed exotic hardwood — offcuts from fine woodworking, given a second life rather than going unused.
On bare-wood designs the colour is the wood's own. Ebony grows near-black, Boxwood pale gold, Padauk deep red, Maple pale. Nothing is dyed or stained, which is why the tone deepens with age instead of fading. Some designs carry a hand-painted motif brushed over the grain, and those are described as such on the product page.
A pair weighs around 10 g. That is the practical argument for wood: you can wear a full-size statement earring through a long day without it becoming something you take off in the car.
How the pieces are made ▾
Six techniques run through the catalogue. Inlay cuts a channel into one wood and sets another inside it, polished flush. Engraving draws the design into the surface by hand, with no undo. Carving and filling cuts the lines first, then works colour down into them so it sits below the surface. Joining bonds separate strips into a block which is only then shaped. Carving works the form in three dimensions. Plain shaping lets a single piece carry the whole design — which sounds easiest and is the least forgiving, because there is nowhere to hide a mistake.

Are wooden earrings heavy?
No — around 10 g a pair. A metal earring of the same dimensions would weigh several times that.
Do the colours fade?
On bare-wood pieces there is no dye to fade. The tones deepen with age, most noticeably on Padauk.
Can they get wet?
Dry them straight away if they do. Brief contact is survivable; soaking, swimming and showering are not.
Are they durable?
These are dense hardwoods, hand-finished and quality-checked. They handle daily wear. What they do not handle is being dropped onto tile or stone.
