Kavach Wooden Bracelet – Hand-Engraved Ebony Seven Chakra Bracelet

Seven discs of Ebony, each hand-engraved with the symbol of one chakra, strung in order on a braided cord that ties to any wrist.

Kavach is the Sanskrit word for armour. It is also the word for a protective amulet worn on the body — which is what this is shaped like, and why it carries the name.

Seven symbols, in order

The discs run from Muladhara at one end to Sahasrara at the other — root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, crown — in the sequence they are traditionally described. Each symbol is a yantra: a lotus ring enclosing an inner geometry and a seed form at the centre.

Getting all three to read clearly on a face the size of a coin is the difficulty of this piece. The lotus petals alone are a ring of repeated shapes that have to stay even the whole way round, and every one of the seven designs is different from the last. There is no repeating a single motif seven times here.

Engraved, not printed

Every symbol is cut into the surface of the wood by hand. Nothing is printed, transferred or applied on top — which is why the lines hold their edge and why the design cannot rub away with wear. Cut lines have no raised surface to abrade.

Ebony is the wood that makes this possible at this scale. It is dense and close-grained enough to take a fine cut without the fibres tearing, and dark enough that the engraved lines read as shadow against a near-black ground. On an open-grained wood, detail this fine would not survive the cutting.

A piece with no size and no gender

Almost all jewellery asks you to choose. Kavach does not. The cord ties rather than clasps, so it fits a child's wrist or a broad one with the same knot, and nothing in the design reads as men's or women's. That makes it one of the few things you can buy for someone without knowing their size or second-guessing their taste.

How to wear Kavach

Every day. Dark, flat and close to the wrist — it sits under a shirt cuff without catching and adds nothing to your morning.

For practice. Many people wear a piece like this for yoga or meditation. It is light, it does not swing, and there is no metal to warm or cool against the skin.

Stacked, or alone. Ebony is a neutral. It sits quietly beside a watch, a thread, or another band.

Caring for your Kavach bracelet

• Take it off before showering, swimming or washing up. A bracelet meets water far more often than an earring does, and this is the habit that matters most.
• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wear.
• Put it on after hand cream, sanitiser and perfume have settled.
• Store it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight, when not worn.
• Wood does not tarnish, so it needs no polish and no cleaning solution — only dryness.

Yes. It is light, it has no clasp to fumble with and no sharp edges, and the cord ties to any size.

Is it comfortable to wear all day?

Wood weighs a fraction of what metal does at the same size, and it warms to skin temperature instead of staying cold against the wrist. The discs are flat, so nothing digs in when you rest your arm on a desk.

Can the bracelet get wet?

Please take it off before showering, swimming or washing up. A splash will not harm it — dry it with a soft cloth and let it air. What to avoid is sustained damp, which is harder on a cord than on the wood.

Is the black colour natural?

Yes. Ebony grows near-black and needs no treatment to look this way. Nothing on Kavach is dyed, stained or painted.

Will the engraving wear away?

No. The symbols are cut into the wood rather than applied to it, so there is nothing raised for daily wear to rub against.

Is Ebony strong enough for a bracelet?

Ebony is among the hardest woods worked anywhere, which is one reason it was chosen for the first Kavach. A bracelet takes more knocks than an earring, and this is a wood that stands up to them.

Will my bracelet look exactly like the photographs?

Very close. Ebony varies least of any wood we use, because the grain is too dark to read — but each disc is cut and engraved by hand from repurposed offcuts, so small differences remain between one piece and the next.
