Collection: Wooden Jewellery Sets
Eleven handcrafted earring-and-necklace sets, each cut from Boxwood, Ebony or Padauk and finished by hand in Baranagar.
Every set pairs a necklace with the earrings designed for it — the same shape, the same woods, the same size at the ear as across the collarbone. Most of the earrings are also sold on their own, so if you already own a pair you own half of its set.
Why a wooden necklace rather than a metal one ▾
A necklace of seven linked pieces is a real weight at the neck in metal or stone, and weight is what ends an evening early. In Boxwood and Ebony the scale is visual rather than physical: the earrings in these sets weigh 10 g the pair, and the necklaces sit without pulling.
Wood also does not flash. Polished metal picks up every light in a room, which drags attention towards the jewellery and away from what you are wearing. Wood has depth without shine, so a large piece can stay calm.
How to choose between them ▾
The useful question is not which set you like best in a photograph. It is what you will wear it with.
- A worked or patterned saree — Kanjivaram, Banarasi, a printed cotton. Choose a set with no pattern of its own. Shashi and Jyotsna bring a shape and a single inlaid line and nothing more. Dwaita is the one that holds its own against a heavy weave rather than stepping back, because black against cream reads from across a room without adding pattern.
- A plain drape — handloom, khadi, linen, solid silk. Here the rule reverses, and a decorated set finally has room. Kalpavalli carries dense hand-engraved vine-work; Kisalaya is the only set with colour in it, carved and filled in yellow and green.
- Tailoring, work, western wear. Vargika is the only geometric set — straight edges and a monochrome palette that reads as considered rather than ornamental.
- Something warmer. Usha and Sandhya join Padauk's deep red to pale Boxwood.
- A pendant rather than a row. Kavya and Varmini concentrate the design at the throat instead of spreading it across the collarbone.
- More presence than any of them. Sanskriti is the only bib — joined Boxwood and Ebony striped bars spread wide across the collarbone, for an occasion rather than an ordinary day.
One rule covers most of it: let one thing be patterned. If the saree is doing the talking, the set should be a shape and a surface and nothing more.
What they have in common ▾
Every necklace runs on cotton thread rather than a chain, and every one adjusts — a cotton bead slides along the cord so you set the length yourself and it stays where you put it. Every piece is linked with metal rings, and the earrings hang from metal alloy hooks or sit on push backs.
The colours are the woods' own. Boxwood is pale honey gold, Ebony is near-black and Padauk is deep red, and none of them is dyed or stained to get there. Where colour has been added it sits inside a cut channel rather than on the surface, which is why it cannot rub away.
Care, briefly ▾
Put a set on after perfume has settled and take it off before bathing or swimming. Wipe with a soft dry cloth, store it flat in its pouch away from sunlight, and never in a sealed plastic bag — plastic traps moisture against the wood, and wood keeps best with a little air around it.
Common questions ▾
What is included in a wooden jewellery set?
One necklace and one pair of earrings, designed together in the same woods and the same shape. Most of the earrings are also sold separately.
Are the necklaces adjustable?
Yes, all of them. A cotton bead slides along the cord that passes through it, so you set the length yourself and it holds there.
Are wooden necklaces heavy?
No. That is the main argument for them. The same necklace in metal or stone would be a considerable weight at the neck; in Boxwood and Ebony the scale is visual rather than physical, and the earrings are 10 g the pair.
Which set works with a Kanjivaram or a worked saree?
One with no pattern of its own. Shashi and Jyotsna are the quiet choices; Dwaita brings contrast rather than decoration, so it holds its own against a heavy weave without competing with it.
Which set suits a plain cotton or handloom saree?
A decorated one. An undecorated drape has room for pattern, which is where Kalpavalli's engraved vine-work and Kisalaya's carved colour belong.
Can I wear the earrings on their own?
Yes, and most people will more often. The earrings are the easier half of any set to wear day to day.
Are the colours natural or dyed?
Natural. Boxwood is pale honey gold, Ebony near-black and Padauk deep red, all without dye or stain. Where colour appears in a carved or engraved line, it is filled into the cut rather than painted on the surface.
What is the cord made of?
Black cotton thread, not leather, with a cotton bead as the adjuster.
Do you ship across India?
Yes. Free shipping on all prepaid orders within India, typically 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 handling charge, and we ship worldwide within 5–10 days.
