Why wood suits a festive occasion  ▾

It holds its colour under any light. Metal flares in sunlight and goes flat under warm lamps. Wood does neither — Padauk's deep red and Boxwood's honey gold read the same at a morning puja and an evening reception.

It lasts the day. Festive days are long. A pair weighs around 10 g, so you can wear a full-size statement piece from a morning ritual through to a late dinner.

It does not compete. Festive dressing is already rich — worked borders, embroidery, zari. Wood reads as craft rather than costume, and sits alongside all of it.

Choosing for the occasion  ▾
  • Heavy silk and worked borders: plain Ebony. Black never argues with a rich border.
  • Handloom and tussar: Padauk with Boxwood — warm against warm.
  • Embroidery or sequins: keep the earring's surface plain, or two patterns compete.
  • A full day of functions: a wide stud rather than a dangler — nothing to catch on a dupatta.

Are wooden earrings appropriate for a wedding or puja?
Yes. The natural grain means no two pairs are alike, which matters at an occasion where everyone is dressed well.

Which pair for a red or maroon saree?
Boxwood for contrast, or plain Ebony. A Padauk piece will read tonally rather than standing out.

Will they only suit festive wear?
No. These are not seasonal designs — most work equally well for everyday and office wear.
