Vrisha is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
The block is two woods joined. Strips of Boxwood and Ebony are cut and bonded edge to edge, then shaped and polished back as one piece — each line is a join between species rather than a mark on a surface.
A block is a heavier shape than a bar: squared off at the base rather than tapering, with real width to it. Hung below a bow, which is all curve and no corner, it gives the pair a deliberate top-and-bottom structure — soft above, solid below.
The stripes run the full length, which keeps a wide shape from looking blunt.

Styling ▾
Black and pale gold in a strong straight shape — these are lightweight wooden earrings for daily wear that read as graphic rather than ornamental. A plain kurta, a cotton saree or a shirt all suit them.
The block is long enough to show with hair up and narrow enough not to disappear with hair down.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Keep it dry — take it off before washing or swimming.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.
Delivery and returns ▾
Free shipping on prepaid orders within India. Dispatch in 2–3 working days; delivery 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere in India. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 cash-handling charge. We ship worldwide, with import duties and local taxes payable by the recipient.

Are the stripes painted on? ▾
No. Each band is one of the two woods, cut and joined to the next and polished back. Both colours are the woods' own, so the stripes cannot fade or rub off.
Are these comfortable for daily wear? ▾
Yes. The pair weighs about 10 g, and there is no fine detail to catch on a collar or a dupatta.
Do these work with black clothes? ▾
Yes. The Ebony in the stripes gives the pair something dark to sit against, so it reads clearly on black.
Are both earrings identical? ▾
Very close. The grain runs differently through each piece of wood, so the pair is matched rather than duplicated.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, both woods darken slightly over the years and hold their polish.
