Vritika is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
The hoop is carved from one piece of wood. It is not bent, not joined and not assembled from segments — the ring and the hole inside it are cut out of a single block of Boxwood by hand, which is the harder way to do it and the reason the band stays the same width the whole way round.
The open centre is as much a part of the design as the wood around it. Your skin, your hair or your blouse shows through it, so the earring changes with whatever you wear it against: a soft golden ring against dark hair, an outline against bare skin.
Against the solid black square above, the empty hoop is the whole idea — a filled shape and an open one, in two woods that are each their own colour.

Styling ▾
Wooden hoops are among the easiest statement shapes to live with, which makes this a good pair of lightweight wooden earrings for daily wear — a plain kurta, a cotton saree, jeans and a shirt all take it.
The dark square at the top anchors the pair against black and deep colours, where an all-pale wooden earring can float.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.
Delivery and returns ▾
Free shipping on prepaid orders within India. Dispatch in 2–3 working days; delivery 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere in India. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 cash-handling charge. We ship worldwide, with import duties and local taxes payable by the recipient.

Is the hoop bent or carved? ▾
Carved. The ring is cut from a single piece of Boxwood by hand — there is no join anywhere on it and nothing has been steamed or bent into shape.
Are wooden hoop earrings comfortable for daily wear? ▾
Yes — this is one of the lightest hoop shapes you can wear. The pair weighs about 10 g, where a hoop of the same size in metal would be felt by the end of the day.
Is the black square painted? ▾
No. It is Ebony, a wood that is black on its own. Nothing is stained, dyed or painted.
Do these work with black clothes? ▾
Yes. The Ebony square gives the pair something dark to sit against, so it reads clearly on black where an all-pale earring can disappear.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, both woods darken slightly over the years and hold their polish.
