A pale Boxwood oval with a bold Ebony chevron set high across the face.
Vrinda is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
The chevron is Ebony veneer, cut to shape and laid onto the Boxwood, then polished back. A leaf-thin piece of real wood holds a sharp point where a shape cut from solid stock would have to be worked by hand on both arms.
Where the chevron sits changes the whole piece. Placed low, it narrows the bottom of the drop and the oval reads as tapering. Vrinda puts it high instead, close to the hook — so the broad pale sweep below it is left completely empty, and the earring reads as weight at the top with space beneath.
It is the quieter of the two arrangements, and the easier one to wear often.

Styling ▾
Mostly empty pale wood with one strong mark — these are lightweight wooden earrings for daily wear that still read as designed rather than plain.
The large clear area below the chevron catches light well, which makes the pair show up against dark clothing where a busier earring would get lost.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Keep it dry. A laid surface dislikes prolonged damp, so take these off before washing or swimming.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another — the point of the chevron is the part to protect.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing — a large pale face shows a mark more readily than a patterned one.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.

Is the chevron painted on? ▾
No. It is Ebony veneer — a leaf-thin piece of real wood cut to the shape and laid onto the Boxwood, then polished back. The black is the wood's own colour.
How is this different from a low chevron? ▾
Placement changes what the shape does. High on the face, the chevron leaves the lower sweep of the oval empty and the pair reads as open and light. Low on the face, it would pull the eye to a point at the base and the drop would read as narrowing.
Are these comfortable for daily wear? ▾
Yes. The pair weighs about 10 g and the surface is flush, so there is nothing to catch.
Are both earrings identical? ▾
Very close. The grain runs differently through each piece of wood, so the pair is matched rather than duplicated.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, both woods darken slightly over the years and hold their polish.
