Taisha is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
The zigzag is veneer, laid onto the face. It is cut from a leaf-thin piece of real Ebony, placed onto the Boxwood and polished back — the technique that makes a shape with this many angles possible at all. Cut from solid wood, every turn would have to be chased by hand; cut from a leaf and laid down, the line stays sharp at each corner.
A zigzag is the boldest mark in the range. Where a stripe is quiet and a curve is soft, this is neither — it is the pair to wear when the earrings are meant to be the first thing noticed.

Styling ▾
These are statement wooden earrings for festive wear — strong enough in contrast to carry a silk or a brocade, and graphic enough to look modern against a traditional outfit.
Keep the rest plain. A busy print and a zigzag will argue; a solid colour lets the pattern read.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Keep it dry. A laid surface dislikes prolonged damp, so take these off before washing or swimming.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another — the points of the zigzag are the vulnerable part.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.

Free shipping on prepaid orders within India. Dispatch in 2–3 working days; delivery 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere in India. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 cash-handling charge. We ship worldwide, with import duties and local taxes payable by the recipient.

Is the zigzag painted on? ▾
No. It is Ebony veneer — a leaf-thin piece of real wood, cut to the shape and laid onto the Boxwood, then polished back. The black is the wood's own colour.
What does veneer mean here? ▾
A very thin leaf of solid wood, cut to shape and laid onto the body beneath it — the method used on instrument cases and fine cabinetry. It is what keeps the corners of the zigzag sharp. Keep the piece dry and avoid knocking the edges and it will hold for years.
Are these suitable for a festival or a party? ▾
Yes — this is one of the boldest pairs we make, and at about 10 g it can be worn through a long evening.
What should I wear these with? ▾
Plain fabric in a solid colour. A print and a zigzag compete for attention.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, both woods darken slightly over the years and hold their polish.
