A plain Ebony disc at the ear, and below it a narrow Boxwood drop tapering to a point, with hand-painted detail at the shoulder.
Saras is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
This is the narrowest drop we make. Where most statement earrings earn attention by going wide, Saras goes thin and long — a spear shape, shaped in the round so it tapers in every direction rather than only across the face.
The detail is painted by hand, pair by pair, concentrated at the broad shoulder of the drop and leaving the taper below it bare. Boxwood is close-grained enough that paint sits bright on it rather than sinking away, with the grain still faintly visible underneath — which is the reason to paint wood rather than moulded acrylic, where colour sits on a dead surface.
The width is what makes it an easy piece to wear for a long occasion: there is nothing broad to swing, catch on a dupatta or press against the neck.

Styling ▾
A narrow vertical drop lengthens the line of the face and the neck, which makes this a good choice with a high neckline or a closed collar where a wide earring would crowd.
It also layers well — one of the few pairs here you can wear alongside a fine chain without the two fighting for the same space.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight — painted work holds its colour best away from strong light.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Do not scrub the painted shoulder.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.

Is the detail printed or painted? ▾
Painted, by hand, one pair at a time. Nothing is printed or transferred, so no two pairs carry exactly the same lines.
Is the black disc painted? ▾
No. That is Ebony, a wood that is black on its own. It is left plain and polished, with nothing on the surface.
Are these suitable for a wedding or a festival? ▾
Yes. The length makes them dressy, the narrow shape keeps them comfortable, and at about 10 g they can be worn through a long function.
Will the painted detail wear off? ▾
Not with ordinary wear. Keep the drop away from perfume, moisturiser and soap, and wipe it with a dry cloth rather than a damp one.
Can I wear a necklace with these? ▾
Yes — a fine chain works well. The drop is narrow enough that it does not crowd the space above the collarbone the way a broad earring does.
