A long leaf-shaped drop in pale Boxwood, banded on the diagonal in dark Ebony veneer.
Rohini is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
The shape is a leaf rather than a plain oval — wider at the middle, drawn to a point at each end, with a slight curve along its length so it sits against the neck rather than standing away from it.
The bands are veneer, laid onto the face: leaf-thin strips of real Ebony, cut and placed across the Boxwood and then polished back. Running them at an angle rather than straight across is what keeps a narrow drop from reading as static — the stripes point the eye down the leaf toward its tip.

Styling ▾
Slim and quiet enough to be lightweight wooden earrings for daily wear, long enough to carry an evening. A plain kurta, a cotton saree or a shirt all suit them.
The leaf shape also sits well against a curved neckline, where a hard-edged square can look out of place.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Keep it dry. A laid surface dislikes prolonged damp, so take these off before washing or swimming.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another — the points and edges are the vulnerable parts.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.

Free shipping on prepaid orders within India. Dispatch in 2–3 working days; delivery 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere in India. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 cash-handling charge. We ship worldwide, with import duties and local taxes payable by the recipient.

Are the stripes painted on? ▾
No. Each band is wood veneer — a leaf-thin strip of Ebony cut and laid onto the Boxwood, then polished back. The colour is the wood's own and cannot be rubbed off.
What does veneer mean here? ▾
A very thin leaf of solid wood, cut to shape and laid onto the body beneath it — the method used on instrument cases and fine cabinetry. Keep the piece dry and avoid knocking the edges and it will hold for years.
Are these comfortable for daily wear? ▾
Yes. The pair weighs about 10 g and the leaf is narrow, so there is nothing broad to swing or catch.
Are both earrings identical? ▾
Very close. The grain runs differently through each piece of wood, so the pair is matched rather than duplicated.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, both woods darken slightly over the years and hold their polish.
