A kite shape cut from a single piece of black Ebony.
Parna is cut from Ebony, the black hardwood used for violin fingerboards and tailpieces, which passes through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. It reaches us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense enough to sink in water, and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
One wood, one piece, nothing added. There is no inlay here, no veneer laid on, no second species and no colour — the whole drop is shaped out of one block and polished.
A kite is four straight edges meeting at four different angles: longer below than above, so the shape has a clear top and bottom and hangs with its weight at the base. It is the only piece we make in this outline.
With nothing on the surface, everything rests on the cut and the polish. Ebony takes a finish like stone, which is why a plain black shape still catches light along each face instead of reading flat.

Styling ▾
All black and strictly geometric — lightweight wooden earrings for daily wear that behave like a dark neutral. They read as modern rather than folk, and they work with tailoring, a plain shirt or a printed saree equally, because there is no pattern to clash.
Against dark clothing the outline is what shows, so a bare neckline or lighter fabric suits them best.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another — the corners are the part to protect.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.

Free shipping on prepaid orders within India. Dispatch in 2–3 working days; delivery 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere in India. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 cash-handling charge. We ship worldwide, with import duties and local taxes payable by the recipient.

Is the black colour dyed or painted? ▾
No. It is Ebony, a wood that is naturally this black — the same wood used for violin fingerboards. Nothing is stained, dyed or painted.
Is the kite solid wood or layered? ▾
Solid, cut from one piece. There is no inlay, no veneer and nothing laid on the surface.
Do these work with everything? ▾
Close to it. A plain black geometric shape behaves as a neutral, so there is no pattern to clash with a print and no colour to argue with an outfit.
Are these comfortable for daily wear? ▾
Yes. The pair weighs about 10 g and the shape is compact, with nothing broad to swing.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, Ebony holds both its colour and its polish.
