A Boxwood disc worked in a fine lattice, and below it a dark teardrop banded across the shoulder.
Gargi is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
Two different techniques in one pair, which is unusual for us. The disc is worked in veneer — fine strips of wood laid across the face in a crossing lattice, then polished back. The teardrop is joined wood — separate pieces of Boxwood and Ebony cut and bonded, then shaped and polished as one piece.
The lattice at the top is fine and busy; the drop below is mostly plain dark with a few bands at the shoulder. Detail where it sits close to the face, calm where it hangs — which is why a piece this size does not read as heavy.
It is the most involved pair in this group and the most expensive, because the two halves are built two different ways.

Styling ▾
Length, contrast and visible handwork make these statement wooden earrings for weddings and festive wear. They carry a silk saree without needing a necklace beside them.
Wear with hair up so the latticed disc is visible — it is the part that distinguishes the pair, and it sits highest.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Keep it dry. A laid surface dislikes prolonged damp, so take these off before washing or swimming.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another — the lattice edges are the part to protect.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.

Free shipping on prepaid orders within India. Dispatch in 2–3 working days; delivery 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere in India. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 cash-handling charge. We ship worldwide, with import duties and local taxes payable by the recipient.

Is the lattice drawn on the disc? ▾
No. It is built from fine strips of wood veneer laid across the face and polished back. The lines are wood, so they cannot wear off.
Are the bands on the drop laid on? ▾
No — those are joins. The teardrop is built from separate pieces of Boxwood and Ebony bonded together, then shaped and polished as one piece.
Are these suitable for a wedding? ▾
Yes. This is the most worked pair in the group, and at about 10 g it can be worn through a full day of functions.
Will earrings this size be heavy? ▾
The pair weighs about 10 g. Two elements this size in metal would be felt on the earlobe within an hour.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, both woods darken slightly over the years and hold their polish.
