A black Ebony square at the ear, and below it a bar striped down its length in Boxwood and Ebony.
Falguni is made from Boxwood and Ebony, two of the woods that pass through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments. The Ebony is the wood of violin fingerboards and tailpieces; the Boxwood is what instrument makers use for fittings and for their own bench tools. Both reach us as offcuts from that work — fully seasoned, dense and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
The woods are joined, not drawn. Strips of Boxwood and Ebony are cut and bonded edge to edge, then the bar is shaped and polished back as one piece. The dark line down the centre is a join between species, which is why it is so exact.
Square above, rectangle below — every edge on this pair is straight and every corner is a right angle. It is the most strictly geometric thing we make, and the reason it reads as modern rather than decorative.
Repeating the black of the upper square as a stripe in the lower bar is what ties the two elements together; without it they would read as two unrelated shapes on one hook.

Styling ▾
Straight lines, no ornament, natural wood tones — these are lightweight wooden earrings for office wear with nothing to catch on a collar and nothing loud about the shape.
They suit tailoring and a plain shirt as readily as a handloom saree, where the bar echoes the weave.
Looking after it ▾

- Keep it dry — take it off before washing or swimming.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals.

Is the dark stripe painted on? ▾
No. It is Ebony joined to the Boxwood and polished back. Both colours are the woods' own, so the stripe cannot fade or rub off.
Can I wear these to work every day? ▾
Yes — this is one of the easiest pairs in the range for it. The pair weighs about 10 g, and there is no ornament to snag.
Is the black square real wood? ▾
Yes — Ebony, the same wood used for violin fingerboards. It is that colour naturally and is left plain and polished.
Are both earrings identical? ▾
Very close. The grain runs differently through every piece of wood, so the pair is matched rather than duplicated.
Will the colour fade? ▾
Wood deepens rather than fades. Kept out of direct sunlight and away from chemicals, both woods darken slightly over the years and hold their polish.
