Druvaka is cut from Maple, one of the woods that passes through a Kolkata workshop making parts for musical instruments — the pale wood used for violin backs, sides and necks. It reaches us as offcuts from that work, fully seasoned and stable. Read how the wood gets here.
Almost everything else we engrave is a circle or a leaf. Druvaka is a rectangle — a plain tag with square corners, hanging flat from a ring, with the flower cut into the lower half and the rest of the face left empty.
That empty space is the design. A motif pushed to one side of a plain panel reads as drawing; the same motif spread edge to edge reads as decoration. It is the quietest engraved piece we make, and the one that suits someone who likes the idea of hand-cut work but not a crowded surface.
Every line is cut into the wood — nothing is printed, transferred or burnt on. Maple's fine, even grain is what allows a line this clean without the edges tearing.

Styling ▾
Pale, flat and rectangular — this is the piece to wear when you want hand-made rather than dressed-up. It suits linen, cotton, khadi and a plain work shirt, and it carries the same quiet register as a wooden button or a cane bag.
Because the tag hangs flat and turns on its ring, it stays visible with hair down as well as up.
Looking after it ▾
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Store pieces separately so they do not knock against one another.
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Avoid perfume, moisturiser, soap and other chemicals — a pale wood shows a mark more readily than a dark one.

Free shipping on prepaid orders within India. Dispatch in 2–3 working days; delivery 2–3 days to metro cities and 5–7 days elsewhere in India. Cash on Delivery is available at selected locations with a ₹50 cash-handling charge. We ship worldwide, with import duties and local taxes payable by the recipient.

Is the flower printed or burnt on? ▾
Neither. It is engraved — cut into the surface of the wood by hand. Run a fingertip across it and you can feel the lines.
Which wood is this? ▾
Maple — the pale wood used for violin backs, sides and necks. The colour is the wood's own, not a bleach or a stain.
Are both earrings identical? ▾
Close, but not identical. Each tag is engraved by hand, so the flower sits a little differently on one than the other.
Are these light enough for daily wear? ▾
Yes. The pair weighs about 10 g, and a flat tag has nothing to swing or catch.
Will the pale wood darken? ▾
Slightly, over years, which most people prefer — Maple warms rather than yellows. Keeping it out of direct sunlight slows it down.
